چکیده

During the period 1995–1998 a research project was carried out dealing with oilseed crop-false flax (Camelina sati6a (L.) Crantz). The project with participants from five EU countries was supported by the European Commission. Extensive new knowledge about agrotechnical aspects and agro-industrial exploitation of the crop was acquired. Authentic documentation was obtained from analyses of C. sati6a (CS) seed and oilseed cakes. Thirty representative samples of seed and corresponding thirty samples of oil cakes from the crop grown in 1997, originating from ten different localities in Europe and in Scandinavia, were analysed using advanced analytical technology. The analyses were focussed on evaluation of the oilseed cakes with regard to the exploitation as feedstuff. Different qualitative parameters significant to the biological value of the fodder, such as the content of glucosinolates, sinapine, condensed tannins, inositol phosphates and the content of heavy metals cadmium, nickel and zinc, were determined. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Evaluation of Genetic Variation and Parameters of Fatty Acid Profile in Doubled Haploid Lines of Camelina sativa L.

After cereals, oilseeds are the second-largest food reserves in the world. According to available statistics, more than 95 percent of Iran's oil needs are imported. Given the growing need for edible oils in Iran, it is important to identify fatty acids in the oilseed crops. Camelina sativa L. is an oil-medicinal plant and belongs to the Brassicaceae family that requires very little water and fe...

ω-3 PUFA Rich Camelina Oil By-Products Improve the Systemic Metabolism and Spleen Cell Functions in Fattening Pigs

Camelina oil-cakes results after the extraction of oil from Camelina sativa plant. In this study, camelina oil-cakes were fed to fattening pigs for 33 days and its effect on performance, plasma biochemical analytes, pro-/anti-inflammatory mediators and antioxidant detoxifying defence in spleen was investigated in comparison with sunflower meal. 24 crossbred TOPIG pigs were randomly assigned to ...

Nutrient Content of Camelina Sativa and Feeding Trials in Turkeys

Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz (camelina) is an oilseed producing plant in the family Brassicaceae (Cruciferae) originating from the Mediterranean to Central Asia [1]. Camelina meal (CM) is the by-product of camelina oil extraction and has a crude protein content similar to canola meal [2]. There is increasing interest in converting waste cooking oil and oil produced from oilseed crops, such as ca...

A transgene design for enhancing oil content in Arabidopsis and Camelina seeds

Background Increasing the oil yield is a major objective for oilseed crop improvement. Oil biosynthesis and accumulation are influenced by multiple genes involved in embryo and seed development. The leafy cotyledon1 (LEC1) is a master regulator of embryo development that also enhances the expression of genes involved in fatty acid biosynthesis. We speculated that seed oil could be increased by ...

In vitro Fermentation, Digestion Kinetics and Methane Production of Oilseed Press Cakes from Biodiesel Production

Following the extraction of oil for biodiesel production, oilseed press cakes are high in fat. As the dietary supplementation of fat is currently considered the most promising strategy of consistently depressing methanogenesis, it follows that oilseed press cakes may have a similar potential for CH4 abatement. As such, this study aimed to characterise the nutritive value of several oilseed pres...
